Health Testing:
In 2007, before purchase and while still in Belgium, Athos' hips, back, and elbows were xrayed
and other health tests performed.
Athos was found free of arthritis/dysplasia/ spondylosis.
Athos was tested for Brucellosis and mycoplasma infection-- the results were negative.
Blood work was done to check his thyroid function as well and he has been passed as normal.
The Kliniek voor Gezelschapsdieren Eersel performed an analysis of Athos' semen quality in 2007, it was found to have high motility
and high density of sperm.
Athos has no discernable heath issues. He was cleared by the vet clinic Kliniek voor
Gezelschapsdieren Eersel as well as our own vet Dr. Wooldridge, for purchase for our breeding program.
Athos is a hard-working and hard trialing dog whose back has held up great to the concussion
of such work. Eric and I wish our backs looked this good on xray (we didn't wear as well as Athos!). These xrays and tests are in
addition to Athos' official Belgium hip certification, the scan of which is shown at the end of this page.

Athos is a very masculine, big boned male
from a long line of proven working dogs, on
both the sire and dam's sides. He is also from
known producers of good hips. He is a
powerful and fast dog in the work, great work
ethic, honest character, and a social
temperament. He has high prey drive, has
plenty of civil aggression as well, and yet
remains clear headed. Athos
is a "real dog". His bite in Schutzhund
protection work is crushing and genetically
full on the sleeve. He passes these
qualities along to his offspring.
Athos was selected by Worthy Kennels for our breeding program because he is the existential German
Shepherd Dog: He is protective of his family, good with children, other dogs, his car, his house--and yet
he is also a top notch International Schutzhund competitor. Many trainers believe that a high drive top
competition dog cannot live in the house, but Athos proves that it can be done.
Athos is one of the best and most impressive working line studs available in the USA.

Over medium size, stocky, normal proportions, good withers, small dent
behind withers, croup is a little short and slightly sloping.
Correct angulation of front and rear, good chest, straight front,
gait in the rear straight, in the front slightly tight toes.
Wide reaching gait, strong back, sure temperament, pronounced
fighting drive, does out. Has been successfully shown in the ring.
